Members of the Stepping Forward group visited the National Mining Museum and took time to learn about the experiences of  the women and children who  worked  down  the mines in the 1700’s. They then read about and watched TV clips of the 1980s miner’s strike. One member of the Sure Start staff had  been part of the Women Against Pit  Closures group and talked about her part  supporting the strike.
